At this point in my career, I consider myself an expert when it comes to commissioned art. I have a formula that works for all involved.

The client will never feel uncomfortable or insecure about the result.

My formula? Ask questions before the project is started and keep the client ‘in the loop’ through every step in the creative process.

A few specific questions to start:

What scale? If the client needs help with that, I’d be happy to assist.

What paintings or images of mine did you see to attract you to seek out a commission? I usually have the client select two images from my portfolio. Then I create a mock-up or rendering of the two for approval.

After the image is selected, I ask for a 50% deposit, or you could check out and pay in full via my page on this website ‘Original Paintings and Ltd Editions’ where specific sizes are listed. I can create in any scale, so please ask.

Colors? I ask for specific colors, such as paint chips or fabrics that would be in the space that I will incorporate into the work.

Once these few steps are taken, I move on to starting the process.

As the project is moving along, I send the client images for approval before I continue on. This way everyone involved is on the same page and the outcome will be exactly what they had in mind. If something needs to be tweaked, no problem.

I make the process from beginning to end, easy and fun.
